Founded in 1743 by Claude Moët in Épernay, France, Moët & Chandon has become a leading name in the champagne market. Jean-Remy Moët, a descendant of the founder, acquired the former Hautvillers monastery in 1794, where the monk Dom Pérignon developed his pioneering champagne production techniques.
