The distillery A.H. Riise is located on St. Thomas Island, an American Virgin Island in the Caribbean.
Before this island became an American territory, it was a Danish colony.
Around the 1840s, the pharmacist Albert Heinrich was not only allowed to open a pharmacy but also to produce alcohol.
The term 'Non Plus Ultra' comes from Roman mythology. The Heracles columns, which were built near the Strait of Gibraltar, mark the border of the end of the world.
This rum honours nothing else but the term 'no more'/'nothing beyond'.
Only the best and oldest rums from A.H. Riise's stock are used to produce A.H. Riise Non Plus Ultra Very Rare Rum Limited Edition. The Master Distiller personally ensures the high quality. Only 3000 bottles of it are produced by hand every year.
Tasting notes:
Colour: mahogany.
Nose: oranges, tobacco, caramel, notes of sherry and vanilla.
Taste: Notes of tobacco, sherry.
Finish: long lasting.

Dieser Rum ist der absolute Knaller! Wunderbar weich und vollmundig. Durch die Lagerung in alten Sherryfässern erinnert der Rum an Sherry. Duft und Geschmack nach Vanille, Banane, Caramel, Schokolade.

hier bezahlt man eine Menge Geld für die Aufmachung. Geschmacklich liegt der A.H. Riise Non Plus Ultra nicht weit von den den stark orangenlastigen Rums wie - Pyrat XO Rum, oder dem Don Papa entfernt - Es stellt sich die Frage, ob der ca. dreifache Preis des A.H. Riise im Vergleich zu den beiden anderen Rums, für dessen intensiveren, voluminöseren Abgang gerechtfertigt ist.

Sehr guter Rum. Weich, toller Geschmack. Einzig ein Punkt Abzug weil er nah er an der Grenze zu "zu süß" ist.
Allerdings (zum Glück) nicht so süß wie: "A.H. Riise Family Reserve Solera 1838 Rum 25 Years Old Limited Edition"

Ganz klare Weiterempfehlung. Diesen Rum muß man probiert haben. Meine
Bekannten sind alle begeistert. Schmeckt sogar der Frau oder Freundin
da er noch etwas süßer ist im Vergleich zu anderen Top Rums. Hervorzuheben ist hier der fruchtige Geschmack... nach Orangen.
Für mich ganz klar die Nr. 2 der weltbesten Rums, allerdings hinter dem Ron Zacapa Etiqueta Negra alte Version welcher ein Jahrhundertrum war oder ist.

Es kann nur Einen geben und zwar den Ron Zacapa Etiqueta Negra alte Version,
ein Jahrhundertrum. Doch der Riise Non Plus Ultra ist für mich nur einen Tick
dahinter. Diese Rums sind für mich die absolute Weltspitze und hier kann einfach kein anderer Rum mithalten.
