The name Compagnie des Indes is derived from the East Indian companies (Great Britain, Holland, France and Portugal). These trading companies travelled to America and India to import various goods into their home country.
The brand Compagnie des Indes Rum was founded in 2014 and includes selected blends as well as single cask bottlings from various distilleries.
All Single Cask bottlings are neither post-sugared nor coloured with sugar couleur.
Tasting notes:
Colour: Amber.
Nose: fresh, fruity, dried fruit.
Flavour: spicy, tropical fruit, bananas, notes of caramel, vanilla.
Finish: Long lasting, fruity.
Der CDI Jamaica Navy Strength ist genau das was ich von einem Jamaica Rum erwarte. Nach dem eingießen in den Tumbler steigen unmittelbar Klebstoffnoten hervor, gebackene Banane, Tropenfrüchte und die typische Würze, welche man auch "Funk" nennt.
Gibt man dem rum im Glas etwas Zeit, kann man die feinen Melassetöne, Karamell, Holz und sogar etwas Vanille vernehmen. Am Gaumen dann eine kleine Explosion, leicht süßlich legt sich der Navy Strength rum mit seinen 57% auf die Zunge, die Aromen werden alle freigesetzt, der speichelfluss wird angeregt und durch die hohen Prozente wärmt der Rum den Mundraum. Die einzelnen Aromen bleiben nicht allzu lange, ehe sie sich mit den verbundenen Melassetönen langsam verabschieden.
Für mich dennoch ein kleines Highlight, denn für diesen Preis bekommt man ein sehr hochwertiges Produkt. Nun bereue ich dass ich nicht gleich die 1Liter Buddel gekauft habe, fand die 0,7er Flasche jedoch vom Design ansprechender. Zum gemütlichen sippen bestens geeignet, oder um einen hochwertigen Cocktail damit zu kreieren.
