show moreThe term comes from English, there "pop" colloquially means something like "fizzy", the front part of the word "alco" is derived from alcohol. Other terms for it are, for example, "Premixes", which translated into German means "Vorgemixt", or RTD, which is an abbreviation for the English "Ready to drink". These terms also immediately indicate that we are talking about alcoholic mixed drinks. High-percentage alcoholic products are mixed with beverages that have an alcohol content of less than 1.2% or with fermented beverages with a content of more than 1.2%. These mixtures then range from 1.2% to 10% alcohol content. Spirits such as whiskey, rum, vodka, gin, bitter liqueurs or tequila are usually mixed with sodas, caffeinated soft drinks, juices or fizzy drinks, which usually adds a certain sweetness and makes the drink palatable. They are also particularly popular with people who tend to be averse to drinking high-proof alcohol, but still want to join in the drinking from time to time and therefore buy alcopops.
The first variants of these mixed drinks appeared in the ranges of the major beverage and spirits manufacturers around the turn of the millennium. In the meantime, they have become widespread all over the world and are an indispensable part of nightlife, especially among young people, even if there are country-specific differences, which are of course due to general regional differences in alcohol and food consumption. The mixed drinks are predominantly bottled in bottles, which, in contrast to traditional spirits bottles, have a modern design and were thus created precisely for nightlife and are intended to encourage people to buy alcopops. A famous international producer is for example Eristoff with the series "Ice" which is available in different flavors, the most famous is "Ice Lemon". But also a domestic producer is active in this category and so there is the Gschpusi, which is available in the flavors "Elder with shot" and "Skiwasser with shot". All three of these drinks are available here in the Alkopops Shop, so get them now!
