The whisky from the Worthy Park distillery in Jamaica is produced in an idyllic setting, surrounded by mountains and nestled in a fertile landscape, far away from the tourist beaches. Under the management of the Clarke family, who attach great importance to quality, efficiency and the preservation of tradition, the rum is distilled exclusively using the traditional pot still method.
The Jamaican rum blend Worthy Park Select is made up of carefully selected rums from the distillery, which are aged between 4 and 12 years and matured in ex-bourbon barrels made from American white oak. This method gives Worthy Park Select a depth and complexity that reflects the rich culture and unique character of Jamaica.

Für Jamaica Rum dieser Güte lasse ich jeden Whisky stehen. Eben hatte ich einen Jack Daniel´s Single Barrel im Glas, nach dem auswaschen kam der halb so teure Worthy Park in eben dieses, um festzustellen wie Geil Rum ist! Vor allem wenn es sich um Jamaica Rum aus namhaften Destillerien handelt. Für mich ist es gewiss, ich bleibe für den Purgenuss bei Rum, Whisky kann ich mir getrost in die Cola schütten, taugt pur genossen für mich gar nicht, nur scharf, unangenehm und oftmals zu eintönig. Die Vielschichtigen töne von Jamaica Rum wiederum sind auf der Welt einzigartig und so dermaßen facettenreich dass sie mich direkt in den Bann gezogen haben. Klar, im Gegensatz zu Whisky werden sehr viele Rums mit Zucker zugänglich gemacht, aber hier spreche ich ausdrücklich von Originalen Jamaica Rums, welche, wenn sie auf der Insel abgefüllt werden kein Gramm Zucker enthalten dürfen!
Der Worthy Park Select ist sicherlich nicht der Beste Rum den Jamaica zu bieten hat, die Esternoten sind hier sehr zurückhaltend, die berühmte Worthy Park Banane ist hier auch nur marginal zu entdecken, und doch hat der Select mehr zu bieten als ein billiger Verschnitt! Ein Obstkorb voll tropischer Früchte, daneben sogar etwas Erdbeere und Aprikose. Feine vergorene Früchte auf der Zunge, dazu die tollen Melassenoten und nicht zuletzt ist er sehr mild!
Alles in allem ein rundum gelungener Rum, welcher pur am besten schmeckt. (Für Rum Cola muss es ein etwas ordinärer Rum sein der voll auf die 12 schlägt, z.B. Myers´s oder Captain Morgan Black)
