Ardbeg is considered "without doubt the most impressive distillery in the world". The house was founded in 1815 and could be saved in 1997 just before the closure of the company.
The distillery is located on the storm-lashed, rugged and famous whisky island of Islay off the west coast of Scotland.

- Silver medal in 2012 at the International Wine & Spirits Competiton
- World Whisky of the Year 2008 from Jim Murray's Whisky Bible
Tasting notes:
Colour: Pale gold.
Nose: sweet, smoky, toffee, chocolate, cinnamon, phenolic notes of citrus fruits.
Taste: Full-bodied, peat, hints of tobacco and espresso.
Finish: Long lasting, smoky.
Er schmeckt einfach, nicht zu heftig und nicht zu mild in der Torfnote, einfach ausgewogen.

Einer der besten Brennereien für rauchige Whiskies. Leider in den lezten Jahren sehr im Preis gestiegen, bietet der 10 Jährige noch am meisten für's Geld. Noch dazu in der 1l Travel Value Edition.

Viel Rauch, aber auch die typische Ardbeg Süße, machen diesen komplexen Whisky aus. Er hat dadurch nicht den typischen Krankenhaus Charakter wie bspw. ein Laphroaig. Obwohl nur 10 Jahre alt, hat er sehr viel Aroma. Preis leider etwas hoch...Ardbeg halt.

Nicht umsonst hat Michael Jacksons einer der profiliertesten Whisky Kenner, in diesem Islay Malt 87 von bei ihm höchst vergebenen 95 Punkten zugesprochen. Ein wie in der Verkosternotiz beschriebener Whisky der in keiner Whiskysammlung fehlen sollte.
