The recipe dates back to the year 1510. However, a good 3 centuries were to pass before it achieved world fame. In fact, the Benedictine had fallen into oblivion until 1863, when the French merchant Alexandre Le Grand came across the secret formula in inherited documents. It is he who, after some experiments, puts the Benedictine DOM on the market and thus makes the bar world a little richer.

ich habe Ihn durch eine 50 Jahre alte Flasche (die ich schon weg schmeissen wollte) kennengelernt.
ALLE (Freunde, Frau, Verwante und ich) haben sich in Ihn verliebt.

Die Rezeptur dieses Likeurs geht auf das 11 Jahrhundert zurück und wurde erst wieder in alten Aufzeichnunge im 19 Jahrhundert wiederentdeckt. Für die Produktion, werden in einer kleinen Destilerie an der Franzöischen Atlantikküste hundert von Gewürzen und Kreuter verwendet, die dem Likeur seinen unvergleichlichen Geschmack verleihen. Dadurch ist er nicht so bitte wie viele andere, aber durch den hochprozentigen Alkoholanteil dennoch kräftig im Geschmack.
