Der Rum wird nach einiger ruhezeit im Glas immer besser, ich benetze zunächst immer den gesamten Rand vom tumbler und lasse das Glas so stehen.
Bei der folgenden geruchsprobe dann der absolute Wahnsinn, man fühlt sich als ob man direkt einen Spaziergang durch die Destillerie macht, inklusive Fasslager. Fruchtige Noten, reifes Obst, Holz, Vanille, Klebstoff, Leder, Melasse. Das sind nur so die ersten Eindrücke beim riechen. Beim verkosten legt der Hampden Overproof nochmal nach, hier hat man zunächst leicht süßliche Noten am Gaumen mit der Wärme der hohen Prozentzahl, hier wieder die vergorenen Früchte und das holzige des Fasses. Der Abschied dauert länger als bei jedem anderen rum den ich bisher getrunken habe.
Den HLCF Classic werde ich als nächstes testen, ich weiß nicht genau ob er den Nachfolger für den Overproof darstellt, falls er dem Overproof nicht das Wasser reichen kann, bereue ich jetzt nach Ausverkauf dass ich nicht mehrere Flaschen geordert habe...
Fazit: Den Overproof MUSS man als Genießer Jamaikanischer destillate probiert haben. Sicherlich sind die Velier Abfüllungen CH, Dok, und wie sie heißen wesentlich teurer und vielleicht noch besser, aber bei 250-500€ haben die auch oft einen Vogel wenn ihr versteht :-)
