El Dorado Rum
The name "El Dorado" comes from the legend of the golden city of Manoa in the Rupununi region, which was ruled by a golden king and brought the early explorers to Guyana in search of infinite wealth.
Today, the true gold of Guyana rests in the storage tanks of the famous Demerara distillery. With the fascinating rums of the "El Dorado" brand, Guyana - the name means "land of many waters" by the way - became known throughout the world as a producer of the highest quality.
The "Diamond Distillery" is now the last distillery in Guyana. In the 17th century, the export of sugar cane to Europe began to boom, as did rum production. Each sugar refinery had its own distillery! But with the strong fluctuations in the price of sugar more and more had to close their doors. Old rum stocks from these distilleries were bought up by Diamond Distillery and thus create unique, diverse rum creations.
The lush vegetation and the tropical climate in this country has contributed greatly to the unique aroma and taste of El Dorado Rum.
This variety of rum specialities is the trademark of El Dorado. Does that sound interesting to you? Then take a closer look at the El Dorado products in our online shop!
