Jose Cuervo is produced by the "Tequila Cuervo La Rojena SA" and distributed since 2013 by "Proximo Spirits". This company was founded in Mexico in 1795 by Don Jose Antonio de Cuervo. To produce Cuervo tequila the core of the blue agave is required. This part of the agave is also called "Piña" (=Spanish word for pineapple), because it looks like a pineapple. The word "Cuervo" is Spanish for raven, which is why there is also a raven on the crest of the Cuervo family.
