Jose Cuervo is owned by the largest agave populations in the world, which grow particularly well on the fertile volcanic soil. "Jimadores" care on average 7 years about the growth and harvest of the Blue Agave until they are ready for harvest.
José Cuervo is produced by "Tequila Cuervo La Rojeña S.A." and distributed by "Proximo Spirits" since 2013.
The company was founded in Mexico in 1795 by Don José Antonio de Cuervo.
Since then, the experience, recipes and know-how have been passed on within the company and the core of the Blue Agave, also known as "piña" (= Spanish pineapple), is needed for production, as the harvested core looks like a pineapple. The word "Cuervo" is Spanish and means raven, which is why there is a raven on the coat of arms of the Cuervo family.
