Der Rolls Royce unter allen Single Malts. Nicht weil er der stärkste ist, nicht weil er der intensivste ist. Er ist nur ein "Mittelgewichtler". Aber seine geschmackliche Qualität ist so elegant, dass er dem Scotch Single Malt eine eigene Dimension verleiht. Viele Puristen bekritteln seine immense Affinität zum Sherry-Fass. Aber Whisky wurde schon immer in fremden Fässern gelagert, es war schon immer Whisky-Design, das das endgültige Produkt in der Flasche ausmachte. Heute ist das nicht anders als früher, nur kann man präziser Geschmacks-orientiert arbeiten. Und was für ein Traum-Whisky dabei rauskommen kann, zeigt der 12yo Macallen!

Man merkt bei Macallan ganz deutlich, dass sehr viel Wert auf hohe Qualität gelegt wird. Das Geld was man für den 12 jährigen mittlerweile zahlt, ist er meiner Meinung nach wert. Der Macallan 12 Jahre ist so ausgewogen fruchtig, süßlich und im Abgang auch wunderbar nussig. Man könnte meinen, dass man es mit einem älteren Tröpfchen zu tun hat.

Macallan ist eindeutig eine der edelsten Whisky-Marken aus Schottland. Fruchtig (Sherry) und sehr würzig. Nur für Leute, die auf Sherry-Fass-Aroma im Whisky stehn. Nicht jedermanns Sache.

Noch nicht probiert. Die Qualität von Macallan, vor allem bei dem alten Sherry Cask Abfüllungen, ist jedoch generell sehr gut.
