Lowland Single Malts
The Lowlands are located in the southern part of Scotland, the landscape of the region is strongly characterised by lush green meadows, fields and gentle hills.
Before 1784 the region belonged to the Highlands and has been an independent region ever since. Here you will find only a handful of malt distilleries but the highest proportion of industrially-operated grain distilleries. Lowland Single Malts stand out due to their lightness, freshness and low peat content.
In general, single malts from this region are brighter than the Highland brothers and are reminiscent of Irish whiskies with their three-fold distillation.
