The Macallan Whisky Distillery is located in Easter Elchies, Craigellachie, Banffshire, Scotland. It produces Scotch Whisky, Highland Single Malts to be precise.
The Scottish distillery was founded by Alexander Reid, today the Edrington Group owns "The Macallan".
The Macallan distillery is nestled in the northeast of Scotland, near the Spey River.
Farmers have been burning whisky from excess barley during the winter months for centuries. The barley farmer Reid founded the company in 1824.
The six columns of the distillery are:
- Tradition and nature
- small stills to allow as much contact of distillate and copper as possible
- fine, selective blend to promote the full body
- high-quality, natural oak barrels
- natural colour through wood colouring, without artificial colourings
- distinctive spirit.
