Independent whiskies of outstanding quality are produced in Switzerland using regional ingredients. Only a few distilleries produce a considerable variety of flavours - from fruity to spicy, but with fewer smoke aromas. The Swiss Alpine Whisky has its origin in the 18th century where a family of beer brewers began to store Säntis Malt in ex-beer barrels. The barley comes from the highest altitudes, where it is constantly exposed to a variety of weather conditions. The outstanding quality has also been recognised by various awards such as "Silver Outstanding" and others.
