Wine from Piemont
With the exception of the Valle d'Aosta, Italy's northern-westernmost wine-growing region mainly produces quality wines (DOC and DOCG).
The Piedmont hotspot is Langhe. The typical, rather dry Italian red wines Barolo and Barbaresco are produced here.
Also the white truffle - appreciated by gourmets - is increasingly to be found here.
Well-known DOCG grape varieties such as Asti, Brachetto d´Acqui, Dolcetto di Dogliani and many other DOC grape varieties are cultivated in Piedmont.
