Wine from Argentina
With over 220,000 hectares of vineyards, Argentina ranks sixth in the world.
The focus is on red wine production, and in recent years the production of quality wines has increased in particular. The first documented wine-growing dates back to 1554.
A Spanish priest needed a wine for mass and thus the foundation stone for today's viticulture was laid. Among the cultivated red wine varieties you will find Bonarda, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Barbera.
White grape varieties cultivated are Sauvignon Blanc, Traminer, Malvasia, Silvaner, Pinot Blanco, Riesling and also Chardonnay.
