Wine from Spain
The Spanish lifestyle includes siesta, tapas and a fine glass of Spanish wine. The climatic conditions support the production of quality wines optimally and an extensive cultivation is possible. Here there are the following quality classifications:
- Joven: young, fresh wine, which is stored only briefly in the barrel, if at all.
- Crianza: matured for two years, of which at least six months in oak barrels.
- Reserva: matured for three years, at least one third of which in oak barrels.
- Gran Reserva: aged for five years, of which at least one and a half years in oak barrels. This category is the highest among the wines, the most popular amongst the red grape varieties are Tempranillo and Granacha.
