Wine from USA
Wines from the United States come mainly from California, Oregon, New York and Washington.
The first beginnings of wine production can be traced in the 18th century.
With the immigration of French and Italians, the knowledge of wine production was also imported and continuously expanded.
After years of poorly managed wine-growing, due to economic crises and the Second World War, things went up again. The USA has meanwhile established itself on the international market.
Red wine varieties such as Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Merlot, Shiraz and Zinfandel are cultivated. Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Vidal Blanc dominate the market for white wines.
